Principles of machining process design for machining centers

Designing the machining process of a machining center machine tool is actually designing the machining steps for each surface. When designing machining center steps, the main considerations are accuracy and efficiency. There are mainly the following aspects.

(1)The same machining surface is completed in the order of rough machining, semi precision machining, and precision machining.

(2)For parts that require both milling and boring, milling can be done first and then boring.

(3)For centralized processing at the same workstation, it is advisable to process as closely as possible to shorten the tool movement distance and reduce idle running time.

(4)Divide the work steps according to the tools used.

(5)When the batch of processed workpieces is large and the process is not too long, multiple workpieces can be clamped on the workbench at once for simultaneous processing to reduce the number of tool changes.    (6)Considering the existence of repeated positioning errors in machining, principles cannot be adopted for hole systems with high coaxiality requirements.

(7)After a single positioning, all holes in the coaxial hole system should be sequentially and continuously processed by changing the tool. Then, holes in other coordinate positions should be processed to improve the coaxiality of the hole system.

 (8) In a positioning fixture, try to complete all the surfaces that can be machined as much as possible.
